CBS has released a new trailer for NCIS: Origins. The one minute and 40 second clip offers an in-depth look at Austin Stowell’s younger, Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
The clip, released via the TVLine YouTube Channel, showcases a young Gibbs on his first day at the NIS Camp Pendleton office. He is seen going through his day-to-day tasks while still being haunted by the murder of his wife and daughter. The video also features Robert Taylor as the protagonist’s father, Jackson Gibbs, and Bobby Moynihan as lead forensics analyst Woody Browne. Patrick Fischler can be heard in the opening moments of the clip as Special Agent Cliff Walker, in charge of the new NIS Pendleton office.
New NCIS Season 22 photos confirm that one character will be staying with the titular team despite the Season 21 finale suggesting otherwise.
Mark Harmon originally played Gibbs when the flagship NCIS series debuted on CBS in 2003 until his departure in 2021. The Supervisory Special Agent became a central figure in the series, leading a team of federal agents investigating military crimes. Harmon previously addressed his decision to exit the series after 19 seasons. “I was thrilled with the storyline they came up with and how they handled the character,” he said. “I have been asked [about a return] a lot. I’ve always let the writers do what they want to do. It’s really about feeling like you’re fulfilled with a role, or complete with a role.”
Harmon Helped Stowell Understand Gibbs
Stowell recently shared his thoughts about playing Gibbs after Harmon, admitting that he has big shoes to fill. “Mark Harmon has done a job that actors dream to do,” he said. “He’s captured the world and so that is just slightly daunting. The actor also explained how working with Harmon, who serves as narrator on the series, has helped him to understand the character. “Getting to know Mark has really been paramount to me stepping into these shoes and trying to fill them.”
