Kate Middleton is seen at Crathie Kirk for the first time since revealing her cancer diagnosis as she joins Prince William and other Royal Family members for Sunday service

The Princess of Wales has made her first appearance at Crathie Kirk since revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Kate Middleton, 42, appeared in high spirits as she was pictured arriving for Sunday service with her husband William.

Also snapped making their way to the Scottish church were King and Queen Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh – along with their son, and Tim Lawrence.

Kate’s last public appearance was at Wimbledon‘s finale, and she has also attended this year’s Trooping the Colour.

The Princess sported the same hat she donned last year for a Sunday church service, when she donned a beige tartan Marlborough trench coat from Holland Cooper with  dark brown wool felt fedora with feathers.

The stylish hat, from Hicks & Brown, retailed for £99 and comes in a variety of other colours such as camel, dusky pink and maroon.

William drove the car, smiling as he chatted with his wife and opting for a navy blue suit for the occasion.

Meanwhile Charles, 75, and Camilla, 76, made a colourful appearance in Scottish tartan ensembles.

The Queen opted for a bright green blazer, adorned with red collar detailing and buttons, teamed with a matching hat.

Her husband made a dapper style statement in a kilt, worn with a muted grey jacket.

Edward and his wife Sophie both appeared to go for chic beige ensembles, perfect for the end of the summery weather.

Kate has been making a slow and gradual return to public life following the news about her health struggles.

It was recently revealed that Kate would join the Royal Family at Balmoral this month in what will have been her longest journey since opening up about her health struggles.

She and the Prince of Wales have decamped to the 50,000-acre estate in the Scottish Highlands each summer since their wedding in 2011, but some insiders feared this year could be different due to the princess’s condition.

Since the announcement that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy in March, Kate has mostly balanced her time between Adelaide Cottage, their home in Windsor, and Anmer Hall, their holiday home in Norfolk, which are around 125 miles apart.

Her attendance will be seen by many as further reassurance that the princess is making ‘good progress’ after her diagnosis.

In June she told the public in an emotional message she was ‘not out of the woods yet’ and had ‘good days and bad days’, adding that her treatment would continue for ‘a few more months’.

She said that on her good days it was ‘a joy’ to ‘spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity’.

The annual holiday at Balmoral is a tradition for the royals, where they can relax in the peaceful countryside.

Long country walks and fishing are typical pastimes, with William and Kate known to enjoy cycling through the leafy grounds. Kensington Palace declined to comment at the time.

Earlier this month Kate debuted a new ‘eternity band’ and rewore an old Ralph Lauren t-shirt as she sent a congratulatory message to Team GB.

The royal appeared alongside the Prince of Wales, 42, in a star-studded video which was shared on the couple’s Instagram.

For the uplifting clip, the mother-of-three wore a black-and-white striped top from Ralph Lauren.

The designer item, which originally retailed for £85, has been a staple in Kate’s wardrobe since 2013.

The royal was first spotted wearing the long-sleeved t-shirt while food shopping in Anglesey in August 2013 and later wore it to an official SportAid charity event at the Olympic Park in London two months later.

Kate wore minimal jewellery – opting for a thin silver choker-style necklace and no earrings.

The Princess was also seen with a new band on her wedding ring finger, leading royal fans to speculate it is an eternity ring.

The thick gold ring appeared to be set with diamonds and sapphires, which would match the royal’s engagement ring that once belonged to Princess Diana.

Commenting on the Royal Fashion Police Instagram post, one wrote: ‘The sapphire anniversary/eternity band is a lovely alternative to her engagement ring.

‘Nice to have a ring with a lower profile for everyday casual wear.’

In response, another added: ‘I think it’s beautiful and probably a more reasonable everyday ring.’

Another added: ‘That sapphire band sure looks far more practical for daily living and it sure is pretty.’

The Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary this year and marked the occasion by sharing a new black-and-white portrait from their nuptials.

In the short clip, Prince William stood by her side in the Instagram video and sported an unusually rugged look, with an unshaven appearance.

Kate said: ‘From all of us watching at home congratulations to Team GB.’

The Prince of Wales, wearing an official blue Team GB top, then briefly added: ‘Well done to Team GB you’ve been an inspiration to us all.’

In an accompanying social media post on their account, the royal couple said: ‘Well done @teamgb, what an incredible journey!

‘Every athlete showed immense dedication, heart and passion. You made us all so proud!

‘Here’s to celebrating every triumph @paris2024 and looking forward to more from @paralympicsgb_official later in the summer’.

In March, the Princess of Wales announced in an emotional video message that she is receiving cancer treatment and has made few public appearances since.

In June, Kate attended the Trooping the Colour celebrations in London and recently watched the Wimbledon men’s singles final with Princess Charlotte.

Kate and William’s beaming video came shortly after a heartfelt statement from King Charles III, in which he called all Olympians ‘an inspiration’.

The monarch congratulated their ‘outstanding successes’ and singled out their ‘raw talent, true grit and hard toil’ in the message, which came just hours before the final moments of the Olympic Games in the French capital.

In the viral video, which has already received more than 450,000 likes, former England captain and football icon David Beckham also gave a message of support.

Speaking from a bench surrounded by daffodils and spring blossom, the future queen opened up about her cancer diagnosis in a video this March.

She explained: ‘I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery.

‘It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.

‘In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.

‘This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.

‘As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to

‘George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.

‘As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.

‘Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.

‘We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.

‘At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.’
